The Film and Video Poetry Symposium opens this Saturday night!
I will have two augmented reality paintings in this show, each of which will be accompanied by a poem. My wife, Anna Leighton, will be showing a video poem.
Poet Sarah Morris has written a beautiful poem inspired by one of my two AR/Paintings (“Tied Up At The Hospital”) in the show and has also recorded a reading of it which will be incorporated into the AR. I will be sharing a poem I wrote, inspired by the other AR/Painting (“A Substance Called Understanding”).
There is a great lineup of artists from around the world (see list below).
The event takes place across several venues in LA, New York and Moscow. My work will be at the LACDA Los Angeles Center for Digital Art with an opening reception on Saturday, June 13th from 6-9pm.
The 2019 Film and Video Poetry Symposium has programmed over 30 international films and will screen in three cities: Moscow, Los Angeles, and New York City. In addition, the symposium will feature 9 guest speakers, educational workshops, poetry readings, and a gallery exhibit celebrating the work of 18 artists and poets. Our audience will experience poetry films, performing arts, videopoetry, experimental media, poetry readings, essay films, media installations, and films from the avant-garde.
